Öhlins, the respected Swedish suspension manufacturer has released another new fitment of its critically acclaimed Road and Track (R/T) kit. This time for the tuner’s favourite, the 2007-on WRX Sti.
The R/T range has caused a considerable stir since its launch, offering the perfect compromise between ride and handling, thanks to its unique ‘Dual Flow Valve’ technology, which put simply, allows the coilover units to respond far more quickly and smoothly to the undulations found on most real-world road surfaces. The units also contain an innovative needle valve, which means as the suspension heats up with use, and the damper oil viscosity changes, the damping rate can actually stay the same, making the chassis feel consistent and predictable – even after a full day on track.

The units are made from motorsport grade materials – as one would expect from Öhlins. The front units feature a billet alloy top mount with full camber adjustment, but there are many other great design details. The bottom mounts on both front and rear can be wound up or down, without altering the free length of the spring, meaning ride height can be fettled ad infinitum, without changing the spring rate. Bump and rebound are adjusted together with a positive detent adjuster and spring preload can be easily changed with a swift twirl of the spanners supplied.
The R/T range has been specifically created for European markets, with full dust-covering and protection – and having only being released after enduring endless corrosion tests, to exceed the ISO 9227 standard. Because of this, all R/T units come with a 2 year global warranty, and of course, being genuine motorsport parts, are also fully rebuildable, serviceable and upgradeable – meaning that they are the last coilovers that you will ever need to buy.
For the car that has to be limo-smooth one minute and clipping apexes the next, they are the ultimate upgrade. The complete kit of four units is priced at £2729.60 + VAT.
